The Workday Training Specialist will partner with central Human Resources, the Workday Service Center, and functional area/subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop, implement, and maintain Workday training instructional materials in multiple modalities including Job Aids, videos, live/virtual instructor-led training, and online computer-based trainings to assist employees in learning Workday functionality. The Specialist will make recommendations on resources to support all levels of Workday users across the organization.
This position will be a combination of in-office and remote work.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Instructional Design, Human Resources, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Work Experience:
- 5 years of related job experience
- Experience in curriculum design and professional classroom training
- Experience developing and leading virtual/distance learning
- Experience with ERP/HRIS systems, preferably Workday
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s degree in Education, Communications, Instructional Design, Human Resources, or related field
- Certified Professional Trainer (CPT)
Work Experience:
- Prior experience with Workday HCM and/or Financial modules
- Demonstrated effectiveness as an Adult Learning Instructor
- Experience with SharePoint site management
- Learning Management System (LMS) administration
- Previous role in higher education involving routine interaction with human resources, finance, procurement, and/or grants administration
Skills:
- Microsoft 365 including advanced experience in PowerPoint
- Excellent training facilitation skills
- Strong communication, presentation, and public speaking skills
- Solid project management skills
- Demonstrated understanding of best practices related to curriculum development, training methodologies, and evaluation
- Proficiency with video creation and editing software, e.g., Camtasia, Panopto
- Mastery navigating Zoom and Microsoft Teams
- Proficiency with content authoring and other educational technology tools
Job Duties Outlined:
- Training Creation, Management & Assessment
- Create and maintain Workday training curriculum and development plans utilizing multiple modalities such as Job Aids, videos, live/virtual instructor-led training, and computer-based trainings
- Design and deploy new training content as needed using enterprise and commercial tools, e.g., Camtasia, Poll Everywhere, and Natural Reader
- Maintain knowledge of all Workday modules including HCM, FIN, Talent & Performance, Compensation, etc.
- Stay current on Workday changes through active participation in Workday Community and internal meetings with Workday Service Center and HR Systems teams
- Participate in discovery and testing sessions for any new modules
- Evaluate training impacts from Workday’s semi-annual releases in partnership with the Workday Service Center and develop appropriate implementation materials
- Conduct semi-annual audits of Workday Job Aids and other reference materials; evaluate and review for changes and schedule future materials for publication
- Partner with Workday Service Center for ongoing assessment of training needs of Workday users
- Assess applicability and relevance of existing training and the opportunity to develop new training using analytics from Workday and other sources of data
- Apply continuous improvement principles to training creation and delivery, help text functionality, and all other aspects of the training function

- Schedule and deliver training sessions as needed based on Workday updates or when new modules or options are added
- Facilitate SME-led informational sessions in partnership with functional areas
- Collaborate with Office of Compliance team overseeing the Saba LMS; manage existing courses and add new courses and curricula
- Internal Promotion & Communication
- Maintain and enhance Workday intranet site and the Talent & Performance Hub intranet site in partnership with the Workday Service Center
- Participate in New Employee Orientation to introduce new employees to Workday and provide direction on how to access training resources
- Promote training to all levels of Workday users across the organization
