Director of Human Resources – HCI Energy

  • Mediating and suggesting solutions to employee disputes
  • Compiling information about compensation and benefits packages based on market data
  • Validate and audit finance for payroll activities
  • Interpret and monitor the application of company human resources policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and fairness in all employment practices. Formulate and recommend employment policy and procedure changes when necessary.
  • Oversee all company employment, including: preparation of position guides; internal and external advertising of positions; candidate interviews, pre-employment screening, final selection, and employment offers; new employee on-boarding; benefits enrollment; and related areas.
  • Conduct new employee orientation and training in company policies and procedures.
  • Administer the company benefit plans, including Health, Life, Disability, PTO, company 401(k) Plan, including monitoring of loans and transfer of electronic data to the 401(k) provider.
  • Review benefit provider invoices for accuracy and approve for payment.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with Benefit Providers, Brokers and Agents. Assist executive management in benefit plan reviews and necessary negotiations of plan changes.
  • Assists the Risk Manager in handling workers’ compensation cases.
  • Provide staff assistance in the administration of recreational activities and other programs aimed at maintaining employee interest, participation and morale.
  • Provide consistent, prompt, and courteous service, both on the phone and in person, to all company employees, customers, and outside stakeholders.
  • Practice and always promote teamwork. Setting a good personal example of attitude and performance.
  • Follow through and communicate employee relation problems to the CEO and Leadership.
  • Evaluate and take positive, consistent, disciplinary action on infractions of company policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Guidebook.
  • Ability to deal effectively with people of varying backgrounds and personalities.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of cultural norms, traditions, and working with diverse teams
  • Guide management and employee actions by developing HR guidelines, communicating the guidelines and enforcing organization values
  • Educate employees as to eligibility for, and accrual of, all benefits such as Paid Time Off (PTO), Holiday pay, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, and life insurance.
  • Oversee the company personnel appraisal process, ensuring consistency, timeliness, and compliance with company procedures in all reviews.
  • Oversee the company salary planning and administration process, to the same end.
  • Coordinate interviews with all necessary parties to respond to employee concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Where necessary, makes specific recommendations for complaint resolutions, or facilitates resolution reviews with executive management.
  • When circumstances require it, function as a trusted, confidential channel of communications between employees and their managers, or employees and executive management.
  • Remain current with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations concerning all employment matters, including wage and hour laws, overtime and minimum wage regulations, and regulations applicable to employee benefits (COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA).
  • Lead company’s compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal requirements including the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Establishes and maintain company records, employee records and reports; able to direct others in the organization and adherence to record-keeping guidelines
  • Additional responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the CEO consistent with the general role and responsibility of Director of HR.
