Job Description Summary :

The Manager, Payroll is responsible for providing leadership of the Payroll team with oversight of payroll processes, payroll tax, required filings, etc.

Job Description

  • Directly manage the Payroll Administrator and responsible for all activities related to payroll processing, filings, reporting, etc.
  • Oversee processing of bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for 1,200 employees across multiple legal entities
  • Set up and maintain Federal, State and Local tax accounts in multiple states
  • Review and approve all quarterly and year-end filings, i.e.  941’s and W-2’s
  • Perform and manage regular audits of earnings, deductions, taxes, electronic timesheets, federal, state and local filings, etc.
  • Responsible for staying current on all payroll laws and regulations
  • Manage multi-state garnishments
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Workday, ensuring all updates are configured, tested and implemented timely
  • Participate in annual audits, including internal audit, 401(k) audit, pension audit, etc.
  • Develop superior and compliant payroll processes and procedures, ensuring documentation and training
  • Provide subject matter expertise for all items related to payroll
  • Work closely within Human Resources regarding inquires, issues and procedures affecting payroll and HR
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with Finance and other various departments to ensure alignment with corporate initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent years’ experience to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Minimum 7 years of payroll experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing payroll team 
  • Experience with Workday HCM and Payroll
  • Knowledge of HR practices and experience in payroll gained in a dynamic organization
  • Certified Payroll Professional certification
  • Workday Professional Services Education – Payroll Certification preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism including patience, ability to listen and follow up effectively with employee inquiries
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Workday Professional Services Education – Payroll Certification preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism
